Cross is here, but there still some road racing to talk about.
Pretty decent weekend for the Horsties. Although our Friday Kermis results are not much to speak of (we missed the big move) the event itself is highly worthy of mention. Getting to Rentschler Field on a Friday evening is a little challenging but the promoters have done a great job making this event worth the effort. It's a cool layout to race and spectate with a wide open view of more than 1/2 of the course. The races started at 4PM and continued through the evening with the P123 guys under the lights. There were team tents, vendor tents, food and drink stands, bike races, puppies....whats not to like here?
If you missed this one and are free the weekend of 9/20-21 there will be a similar setup in downtown Hartford with a grando fondo on Saturday and a fast and exciting figure 8 crit on Sunday. There is also an "urban MTB race" and I have no idea what means and can't wait to find out ! https://www.bikereg.com/ctcyclingfestival
This weekend the Cyclonauts put on two really fun cross races in the Springfield area to kick off the CX madness. Saturday was at Forest Park and we had me, Ted D'Onofrio, Matt Domnarski, and Paul Nyberg in the masters 45+ race. I am pleased to report that I won holeshot and was able to hold off the field for the win. On Sunday I took a break from racing while my teammates Wade Summers and Matt Domnarski went 1-2 at Blunt park. A good weekend for the team.
Hope to see some folks out at Rocky Hill this Wednesday for the CX training series.
