The Frozen 4 Spring training series
EBCC will be teaming up with the Greater Hartford Cycling Club, the Expo Wheelmen, and CCNS to bring a spring racing series back to Plainville, CT for four Sundays in March. The way the multi-club effort works is that each club will run the event for one Sunday providing course setup, registration, marshaling and cleanup. The races run from 8 AM to 12PM and we will be asking for volunteers to help with our designated race. There will also be a racing clinic offered before each event.
The is a great example of the cycling community coming together to bring the very popular Plainville spring races back to life. More details will follow, particularly which week EBCC will have responsibility. Check out the details on the bikereg link below.
Big shout out to Matthew Stuart of GHCC for bringing the clubs together and making this happen!
I may have to re-schedule a work Saturday, but count me in!
Happy to help. Keep me posted.
That's great! Now as much as I want to see snow, I'll hope for good weather for those race days.
In looking at Bike Reg, I don't see a 4th date, nor do I see EBCC as a 'co-host'. Just curious. Also, let Matt know that his dates are conflicting throughout his BikeReg post.
Our options are 3/10 or 3/24 as our race day. We are waiting to hear back from another club as to whether they will take 3/10. I'll post as soon as the date is confirmed with details.
It's official. EBCC will be the host club for the frozen 4 race on 3/24. I will provide details and a signup sheet shortly.
Pat
I have set up a volunteer sign up sheet Sunday March 24th. Essentially the event runs from 7AM to noon. If you plan to race but can stick around to help with course marshaling or clean up we can work it out.
Thanks Jeff!
The series is going well so far with 2 races run and only 1 cancellation. The final edition next week is the EBCC race so we need to firm up the volunteer list. Matt Stuart has done a great job of managing this but we still need 4-5 people to come and assist as course marshals. This mostly involves directing cars to drive in a clockwise direction when the road is clear of bike racers if they need to use the road.
The races begin as follows: 8AM - CAT5, 30 minutes 8:45 - 50+ masters, 45 minutes 9:30 - B Race, 50 minutes 10:30 - A race, 60 minutes
Please let me know if you can help out by either posting here, emailing pmcunningham@charter.net, or using the signup sheet linked above.
Thanks, Pat
Pat, I will be available after my Masters Race if you need any help I'll take an extra set of clothes jus in case See you then Dan
Big thanks to all of the EBCC volunteers who came out to help at the Plainville Frozen Four race. It was a very successful conclusion to a successful series that could not have happened without the volunteers.
To quote the series director Matt Stuart, "You guys did a great job today! Thanks for all the help during the series.".
