EBCC Fall Picnic and Rides, September 30, Save the Date

It has been decided, and many thanks to our host club members, Betsy and Walt Hard!

The 2017 Fall Picnic and Rides are scheduled for September 30th, with an October 1st rain date.

Details will come via and email with an RSVP request. Food themes, awards, ride routes, games, etc. will also be covered. It will be another great way to wrap up a wonderful spring and summer of riding, and plan for our fall and winter adventures. As always, family is invited even if they do not attend the ride.

So hold tight while all of the details are arranged, but make sure to save the date!

See you on a ride or see you on September 30th. Thanks again Betsy and Walt!!

I saw the ridewithgps route, depending on when you arrive in Riverton, you may want to do West River Rd. instead of East River Rd., Hogsback Half Marathon is that day, starting at 9:00 the loop goes south on W River Rd. then north on E River Rd. There shouldn't be anyone left on W River Rd. by 10-10:30 but there will be people on E River Rd. until 11:30-noon, the roads are open to traffic but combine the racers, bike and cars, it could be a mess.

I'm pacing at the race and plan to stop by for the picnic after the race. Patricia is planning on riding.

Thanks for the info Jason. We will take West River road and give them a clean course.

Walt, What's your address?

In reply to Don

Don, 28 Pine Hill Road, New Hartford 860-693-3693

In reply to Jan

I am not getting emails about the picnic, routes, etc. Not in spam box either. I did receive a RSVP reminder from Jan this past Monday, but nothing other than that. I suspect I'm not alone in this regard.

We need to post the routes here and other info of significance.

Doug

Doug,

The ride and picnic routes will be posted this evening, along with additional details. There have been 3 emails regarding the ride and picnic...all being sent to current/active club members through the EBCC site. I'm glad you got the most recent one!

For anyone that hasn't received the email, and would like to join us, please let me know here if you will be joining us for the 9am B or C pace ride, and the picnic following...to begin around 12/12:30. That is this Saturday, September 30. I can increase our food order until 5pm today...

Also, another email will be sent later or Friday morning.

Thanks again for letting us know. Jan

Hi Jan, I will be attending the ride and picnic with 1 guest. Thank you, Janet

And it is the moment you all have been waiting for...thank you to all that have RSVPd. Look for your email with other ride and picnic details.

The picnic is still on for Saturday, September 30th with rides departing from 28 Pine Hill Rd., New Hartford, CT...near the Brown's Corner Recreational Fields off of 219.

Parking will be up the Hard's driveway and to the right, not on the left side near the red barn. Parking is not permitted on the side of the road opposite their house. Pat, Jan, Walt and Betsy will make sure you are parking in OK areas...we want to keep the neighborhood happy.

The B Ride will be roughly 45 miles with 3000' of climbing B Ride Fall EBCC Picnic

The C Ride is about 18 miles with about 1000' of climbing. I would like to confirm a ride leader for this proposed loop...or a ride leader that wants to create and lead a different loop. Proposed C Ride Fall EBCC Picnic

The picnic will follow with Mexican food, beverages of all sorts, games, raffles and a body chilling pool plunge.

Don't forget to bring your chair.

See you Saturday...drizzle or no drizzle.

Hi All. Minor correction. We are off Rt. 202, by Steele Road (Brown's Corner) not Rt 219. Thanks!

In reply to walt

One other note: They are resurfacing the descent part of Steele Road. When I drove it yesterday it looked nearly prepped for asphalt so I think we have a 50/50 shot at either some gravel grinding or a pristine road surface. In either event, check your speed :)

Here's a note from the town:

A portion of Steele Road will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday, September 27. Paving Crews will be on site preparing the road on Wednesday. This will take a few days and will be followed by the actual resurfacing of the roadway. Road closure will be from Hoppen Road to Stedman Road.

Local traffic will be allowed to pass through to their residences. All other traffic should be prepared to take an alternate route.

Thanks Jan (et al.) and apologies for going dark until now. We recently received house guests and I got bogged down in the prep, etc. That plus the discovery re East River Rd conflict just now blew up my planned ~28 mile possible C pace route. I'm questionable for the event at best, so will wish everyone fair (or at least not wet) skies for ride and the after party. Sorry I'll miss it.

Ron, Left your chairs on our front porch, along with two other chairs that were left over. You can pick them up anytime. Walt and Bets

In reply to walt

Many thanks to Walt and Betsy for host our picnic. Lots of fun to get us in one place at least for awhile. Thanks again, Don Myers

Many thanks to Walt and Betsy for opening their home to us Saturday.

Thanks to Walt and Betsy for hosting, and to Pat, Jan, Doug & everyone else who spent time setting up and getting the food, etc. Your efforts are appreciated. It's alway great to see everyone.
